Allard, whose extremist politics and clownish behavior made it fairly certain that he wasn't about to be re-elected in any case, announced today that his pledge to only serve two terms would be honored. Many Republicans took that pledge when they first ran. Very few have honored it. Susan Collins was first elected at the same time Allard was and she made the same pledge. Of all the senators up for re-election in 2008, Allard has the lowest approval rating-- and Collins has the highest.
